20 Jan Carnival of Cento: 2023 edition!
After three years of oblivion, the winter version of the Cento Carnival of Europe returns, the only one in the world twinned with the famous Rio de Janeiro Carnival. Cento is thus preparing for a month of great celebrations, which will take place in the period 5-12-19-26 February and 5 March 2023 and will see the papier-mâché giants compete for the title of best 2023 wagon along the suggestive straight stretch of Corso Guercino street. There will be five carnival associations competing: the Toponi (reigning champions), the I ragazzi del Guercino, the Fantasti100, the Mazalora and the Risveglio. During the month of Carnival, the historic center of Cento, a splendid medieval village, will be colored with cultural, literary, sporting, food and wine, musical and folkloristic initiatives.
On the stage in Piazza Guercino square there will also be great testimonials and the samba rhythm punctuated by the beautiful Brazilian dancers. The management of the ever-present Patron Ivano Manservisi is highly confirmed, assisted by the voices that have always been synonymous with Carnival Patti Po and Alessandro Ramin. Media partner of the event will once again be Radio Bruno. At the console, dictating the times and rhythms of the event, the international producer and DJ Giulia Regain. The five fashion shows will start at 2.00 pm with the initiative Parading the Excellences: roaring Made in Italy creations will open the Sundays of the event, anticipating the great papier-mâché works, which will cover the entire kilometer of Corso Guercino, up to the Rocca for then return to the square for a second round. Passion, ingenuity and creativity will put on a show along the streets of the historic centre, to the delight of young and old. An event in the name of celebration and entertainment, which will end on March 5, with the proclamation of the winning float and after the parade, there will be the usual Testament and Rogo di Tasi, the mask of Cento, at the Rocca di Cento, followed by the grandiose pyromusical show, which every year greets the end of the event.

On Sunday 5 February the roaring Ferraris of the Scuderia Ferrari Club in Cento will open the event, on parade starting at 2.00 pm, followed by a grand parade of beautiful allegorical floats. From the stage in Piazza Guercino, the model Anna Bardi, godmother of the day, and the first great guest of the 2023 edition will entertain the audience: the internationally renowned singer, already winner of Sanremo in 2018, Ermal Meta, who will perform on the stage in Piazza Guercino with some of his hits.
Sunday 12 February the legendary FIAT 500s, better known as Topolino will open the masquerade course, organized by Topolino Auto Club Italia. On stage, the Godmother of the day Irina Lavreniv and great guests yet to be revealed.
On Sunday 19 February, on the 60th anniversary of the start of activity of Lamborghini Automobili of Sant’Agata Bolognese, the powerful Lamborghinis will parade, created by the genius of Ferruccio Lamborghini, a historic entrepreneur born in Cento. During the weekend, numerous collateral events will be organized to celebrate the Lamborghini Days. Godmother of the day was the photo model Giulia Calzolari.
On Sunday 26 February, the Car Tuning Parade, a roaring parade organized by La Festa del Motore, will anticipate the papier-mâché Giants from 2.00 pm. Godmother of the day was the model Eleonora Vallini.
Sunday 5 March the Alfa Romeo parade, organized by the Alfa Romeo Club Cento. Godmother of the day was the model Sofia Pavan. The event will close with the proclamation of the best 2023 wagon, the traditional Testament and Rogo di Tasi and the incredible pyromusical show at the Rocca by Martarello Group.
SIDE EVENTS
During the Carnival period, in addition to the parade of allegorical floats and the shows on the central stage in Piazza Guercino, the tourist will be able to get to know and appreciate the many resources that Cento and its territory offer thanks to numerous collateral initiatives. The Cento Carnival of Europe in collaboration with various organizations, trade associations, cultural, sporting, educational and voluntary associations in the area offers: food and wine and sporting initiatives, guided tours and artistic-cultural performances with the Department of Culture and Tourism of Cento, historical re-enactments by the Compagnia del Governatore delle Antiche Terre del Gambero, winter decommissioning and window display competition in downtown shops with ASCOM, philatelic cancellation in collaboration with Circolo Filatelico Centese and many other surprises and curiosities to better enjoy the Event !
